Do you have any testimonials or reviews from other clients?
How long, after the wedding, until we receive our images?
We believe your images are of lasting value & strive to ensure your images are perfect. With that in mind, we know you will be eager to relive your wedding experience. We always deliver your images between 4 to 6 weeks after your wedding day.
Will you both shoot my wedding together?
Yes, we shoot every single wedding that we book as a team of 2 ~ Daniel & Melissa.
We always shoot weddings together unless we are doing a destination wedding & traveling for both of us is out of the budget.
How can we book you?
A 50% retainer + a signed contract are due to reserve your wedding date on our calendar. Prices are locked once we receive the retainer, unfortunately we cannot book wedding dates unless we receive the retainer and the contract.
Even though you have a Photo-journalistic approach to weddings, can we get formals?
Don’t worry if you want a handful of group shots. We fully understand the requirement for these & will effectively undertake any formal shots to allow you to get on with enjoying yourself! We can also get more formals at any of our optional pre or post wedding sessions.
Could you recommend us wedding planners, locations & other advice?
Of course! We have a network of amazing & reliable vendors that we are always happy to recommend.
Also, let us know if you are uncertain about where to celebrate your wedding, we can give you a few tips that will get you started. Ps. Lake Atitlan is amazing!
Would you shoot us Getting Ready?
Of course! We love capturing the story of the whole day, that’s why all our packaged have enough hours of coverage to get the story of the day. We love capturing those moments before the ceremony since they are full of emotion. Once we send you our questionnaire you can tell us what time you start getting ready & we will coordinate to be there.
Can you outline your workflow with clients?
We enjoy keeping an open dialog with our couples, and answer promptly to emails. Below you can find a summary of how we communicate with our couples:
1) We get your request & answer with our Collections & more information about how we work. We can also schedule a Skype talk or meet in person if you need more information from us.
2) You book with us via a 50% retainer + signing a contract.
3) We send you our Questionnaire, with some questions that will help us understand what your wedding will be like in terms of style, preferences & timeline. We can always talk on Skype if you find it necessary.
4) We shoot your lovely wedding!
5) 4 to 6 weeks after we process & deliver your wedding pictures via a password protected online gallery.
6) You can get extra prints & albums from us.
What´s the best time to get married in Guatemala?
November to May is the dry season, so we usually recommend shooting for that if rain is one of your concerns.
Why is your business only named after Daniel if you are a team of two?
We get asked this question a lot and the story goes that Daniel started doing photography with his name as the business for a few years before Melissa joined in. At that point, business and contacts had been developed and the conversation of changing the name did arise. However, both Melissa and Daniel decided to keep the name as it is and that was that!
Where are you two from?
Daniel is from Murcia, Spain & Melissa is from Omaha, Nebraska, in the United States. We have both been living on Lago Atitlán, Guatemala for almost 5 years now. We are both bilingual in Spanish & English.
Do you live in Guatemala? How did you end up living there?
Yes, and we love it! We both had traveled extensively before we started dating & we knew we wanted to live in a neutral place for us, both outside our home countries. We visited a friend in Guatemala & fell madly in love with Lago Atitlán.
Are you a couple?
Will you travel for my wedding?
Yes. We are also destination wedding photographers, but more importantly, we love travel & exploring different cultures. We have traveled extensively in the past & would love to keep discovering new places. Our passport is up-to-date and ready to roll, so just let us know your destination details & we’ll give you a quote for any additional travel expenses. We offer traveling quotes for 1 photographer (Daniel) & both of us.
All we require is 2 nights hotel, transportation to the wedding location & airfare, and we try to keep costs low.
Is Guatemala safe?
Both Antigua & Lake Atitlan, the 2 main destination wedding spots are totally safe. We have been living here for 5 years and nothing has happened to us. Most people go straight from the airport to Antigua, avoiding the City, which is the location that normally gets a bad reputation.
Will we meet you before the wedding?
We are available to meet over a glass of wine or coffee either in person, or via Skype. We can also discuss the details of your wedding via emails.
Do you only cover weddings?
We mainly focus on weddings, but we also do editorials, documentary photography, architecture, commercial photography, engagement sessions, bridals, “Trash the dress” sessions, portraits, boudoir, senior portraits, NGOs, etc. Please send us an email to discuss details & pricing.
Can you tell me more about the images we will receive?
We typically deliver between 500 and 1000 final images, depending on the Collection you choose. We shoot between 4000 and 9000 images per wedding, but we pay close attention to detail in order to select the very best images that tell the complete story of your day.
All delivered photos are sorted & fully edited by us.
We send you low & high resolution files, with all the rights for online use & printing in any size you want.
Do you bring backup cameras for our wedding?
Yes. We bring 4 cameras to your wedding (2 each, 1 on each shoulder 🙂 ) & multiple lenses, batteries & cards.
Do you have insurance for your cameras?
Yes. We are fully covered worldwide.
Do you shoot LGBTQ couples and weddings?
What if you get sick?
We have covered more than 100 weddings & haven´t missed a single one. We are also 2 people, so if one of us gets sick the other one can still cover your wedding. We also have a list of professional photographer friends that we can call to second shoot or replace us in case of emergency.
Should I feed my photographer?
Yes! Our average wedding day is 10-14 hours. We carry energy bars & water with us throughout the day, but a good (and short) dinner break is essential for us to continue sharp & focused coverage long into the night.
Do you offer albums?
Absolutely. We consider it a privilege to create, from scratch, an album design that reflects the beauty and emotion of your wedding day. The albums we offer are flawless with perfect color & quality, designed on beautiful fine art matte paper & lasting for more than 100 years. Flipping through the album pages, is by far the best way to remember your wedding. Your children will be grateful. Let us know & we will send you more information about our albums.
